A weekly Fit For Marriage message from Russell Yates, a man with a compelling message—
straight from the Bible—that challenges the disintegration of the Christian family.
ARTICLESThe Promised LandJoseph Farah of World Net Daily writes the following: “Marriage I believe is a practice run for our relationship with God in eternity.” The Bible says the same thing in different words: For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:31-32
“Submit” is a dirty word—that's what many women think. But only because of misuse and abuse. God inspired the writing of Ephesians 5:24. Properly understood, it has to be good. When a couple lives together in obedience to these “love-and-submit” commands, the marriage bed becomes a foretaste of heaven. The oneness they experience models the oneness each Believer will someday share with God. What I've just given is the ideal. At this time in history “The state of the 'marital' union” is anything but ideal (see the September '03 issue of Whistleblower entitled “The End of Marriage?”). Now let me make a comparison. The Israelites were slaves in Egypt for 400 years (Genesis 15:13). Then they wandered in the wilderness 40 years (Numbers 14:33). Finally they entered the promised land, “a land flowing with milk and honey” (Deuteronomy 6:3). The Bible says marriage is honorable (Hebrews 13:4). Yet it is under attack as never before. The feminists, gays, and hedonists are openly assaulting traditional marriage. Social Security and the tax laws often discourage marriage. And if that weren't enough, many professing Christians are adamantly opposed to “love-and-submit” marriage as taught by Paul and Peter in Ephesians 5:22-32, 1 Peter 3:1, Titus 2:5, etc.
Marriage and family are the primary means God has given for learning relationship. Unfortunately, people no longer know how to marry. People believe marriage comes naturally—all one must do is meet the right person. That innocent half-truth gets more people in more trouble than they will face in a lifetime from lawyers, politicians, and the IRS. Let me illustrate with a true story.
Fit For Marriage will teach people how to marry—so there won't be “all those other marriages.” We're not the only ones who have addressed the marriage issue. How do we compare with the others? Many programs can take a good marriage and make it better. There's no end to the dating programs that can help you meet someone. But when that someone does not have marital skills—when that someone has unrealistic expectations—what can you expect? Failed relationships!
If you're not willing to settle for superficial religion, shallow relationships, or a counterfeit marriage—if you want genuine friendship, marital intimacy, and wholesome, well-adjusted children—we invite you to join our association. The Fit For Marriage fellowship is for humble men and women who will settle for nothing less than God's best. Fit For Marriage is affordable. It is your program—I'm just the director. We offer a twelve lesson study course on CD or cassette tape as part of the membership package. It is available only to those who enroll in the program. My book, Restoring the Father to the Family, is for sale to the general public, but the study course is for members only.
