A weekly Fit For Marriage message from Russell Yates, a man with a compelling message—
straight from the Bible—that challenges the disintegration of the Christian family.
One Little Boy
I
want to talk about the little boy you see in the picture. The good
news? He obviously was not aborted. The bad news? That remains to be
seen. Is he from a broken family? a blended family? or no family? Is
he being raised by both parents? or a single parent? Has he been adopted?
Has he been cared for by surrogate parents? or has he been blessed
with a mother who actually stays home and nurtures him?
This
boy could grow up to be a Billy Graham or a Charles Manson. He could
become the President of the United States or spend most of his life
in a federal penitentiary. Much depends on his family life. … Are
his parents born again Christians who have truly made Jesus, Lord of
their lives? Are they committed to each other? Does the boy live with
people who are truthful and loving? or is he surrounded by contentious
adults who are deceitful and have no moral standards? Is he being taught
the ways of the Lord? or is he learning to act like the devil?
Oh!
By the way, the picture of the boy was taken over 50 years ago … so
he's grown up. He never spent a night in jail, has not been on drugs—not
even taken a puff on a cigarette. He's never been drunk, but he has
gotten a few speeding tickets. This man has been married only once—he
and his wife were both virgins. He's never had an affair—never
assaulted anyone. He has gotten mad at his wife a few times. The man
is a committed Christian Believer whose goal is to someday stand before
the Lord and hear Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." He
is happily married and has one adult child.
He
was the second of seven children from an intact family. His parents,
Novella and Daniel Yates, were Christians who spent a lot of time in
church and made sure he was there as well. Early on, he learned to
read and memorize Scripture. He can still quote passages he learned
as a child. Let me introduce the man:
Hi! My name is C. Russell Yates. I'm no Billy Graham and I've never
been President. But with the help of my wife, Theresa, I'm working
hard to rebuild the Christian family. My wife and I have a unique testimony
and a persuasive word. Our Fit For Marriage program
will provide the following:
- Sound marital training from the Bible
- Fellowship with other like-minded believers
- Correction for faulty marriages
- Help for members who are looking for a suitable mate
We're
not the only ones who have addressed the marriage issue. How do we
compare with the others? Many programs can take a good marriage and
make it better. There's no end to the dating programs that can help
you meet someone. But when that someone does not have marital skills—when
that someone has unrealistic expectations—what can you expect?
Failed relationships!
Fit For Marriage will train, and then bring people together. Our association
is unique. We teach God's Word, which can take a bad marriage and make
it good. Here's the bottom line: The only marriage that works is
one that has the Bible for its foundation.
If
you're not willing to settle for superficial religion, shallow relationships,
or a counterfeit marriage—if you want genuine friendship, marital
intimacy, and wholesome, well-adjusted children—we invite you
to join our association. The Fit For Marriage fellowship is for humble
men and women who will settle for nothing less than God's best.
Fit For Marriage is affordable. It is your program—I'm
just the director. We offer a twelve lesson study course on CD or cassette
tape as part of the membership package. It is available only to those
who enroll in the program.
My book, Restoring the Father to the Family,
is for sale to the general public, but the study course is for members
only.

We have provided two ways to enter the site:

the Fit For Marriage homepage. It is an invitation, followed by instructions
on how to enroll.
to the Introduction, which amounts to an open letter. There, I discuss
the challenge of making marriage work in today's world. Then I explain
the operation of the Fit For Marriage program. If you have questions
after reading this, please email.
We invite you to join our association!
