A weekly Fit For Marriage message from Russell Yates, a man with a compelling message—
straight from the Bible—that challenges the disintegration of the Christian family.
ARTICLESHere Am I, Send Me!In a recent World Net Daily news article, Richard D. Ackerman wrote the following: Our side fails to realize that same-sex couples are attempting to hijack nothing more than a sinking ship. … Hijacking what is left of marriage is the only way to ensure that it will be completely destroyed forevermore.
Children grow up not knowing how to relate to a spouse. They're not learning at home. They're not being taught in church. … Who will do the job? “Here am I, send me”—that's what Isaiah said. Our Fit For Marriage program will provide the following:
We're not the only ones who have addressed the marriage issue. How do we compare with the others? Many programs can take a good marriage and make it better. There's no end to the dating programs that can help you meet someone. But when that someone does not have marital skills—when that someone has unrealistic expectations—what can you expect? Failed relationships!
The Bible says, “The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12). When the forces of evil attack the family, they also attack the Lord. In participation with the living God, and as heads of our houses, we men must take responsibility for restoring the Christian family. Genesis 2:24 says, “A man would be joined unto his wife: and they would be one flesh.” 2 Peter 1:3 says “God has given all things that pertain unto life and godliness.” Ephesians 5:22-33 tells what it takes to have a good marriage: “Submit to your husband—love your wife.” Submission is the glue that holds a marriage together, and the idea comes directly from the Bible. But it still offends many people. Is the offense justified? Let me use an illustration from the recent past. Terrorists flew airplanes into buildings killing thousands of people. Should we ground all airplanes and never fly again? Like the hijacked airplanes, the idea of submission has been misused and abused.
